GTA 5 on PC now comes in two versions, and the one you’ll play decides what laptop you need. The original, now called GTA V Legacy, runs on almost anything. GTA V Enhanced, the free 2025 upgrade with ray tracing and DLSS 4, asks for an RTX 3060-class graphics card, 16GB of memory and an SSD. Requirements are from the GTA V Legacy and GTA V Enhanced Steam pages. Enhanced recommends Windows 11. Every current gaming laptop with an RTX 5050 or better clears the Enhanced minimum, and a well-powered RTX 5060 is comfortably above the recommended RTX 3060. The one hard rule is the SSD: Enhanced won’t run from a hard drive, and at 105GB it fills a fifth of a 512GB SSD on its own.

Rockstar’s announcement lists the ray tracing features and AMD FSR 1 and FSR 3 support, and keeps the old version available as GTA V Legacy for PCs below the new minimum. NVIDIA’s later update added DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation for RTX 50 GPUs and DLSS Frame Generation for RTX 40 GPUs (HotHardware). For a laptop, that makes a current RTX 50 GPU the sensible choice: it gets every feature the game has.
Buying for GTA 6? Wait
Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S (Rockstar). Rockstar hasn’t announced a PC version or PC requirements, and GTA 5 itself reached PC well after its console launch. So nobody can tell you today what laptop GTA 6 will need. Buy a laptop for the games you’ll play now, including GTA 5 Enhanced, and wait for Rockstar’s official PC requirements before buying for GTA 6.

Acer’s official GPU power list rates its RTX 5060 at 95 W, comfortably above GTA V Enhanced’s recommended RTX 3060, and as an RTX 50 GPU it gets DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation. It pairs that with an AMD Ryzen 5 240, 16GB of DDR5, a 512GB SSD and a big 17.3-inch 1080p screen with a high refresh rate, a good match for driving and shooting in Los Santos.
Good to know: it weighs 6.2 lb, so it’s a desk laptop. GTA V Enhanced takes 105GB, so plan for a second SSD if you play other big games.

2. Lenovo LOQ 15 (2026, RTX 5060): full power in a lighter laptop
The 2026 LOQ 15 runs the same RTX 5060 at the full 115 W, according to Lenovo’s spec sheet, with an 8-core Ryzen 7 250 and a 15.3-inch 1920×1200 165Hz screen with G-SYNC. It weighs 4.6 lb, more than 1.5 lb less than the Nitro V 17. The version we found was $1,249.99 on Amazon on October 13, sold by antonline, an authorized retailer, with 16GB of memory and a 512GB SSD.

3. Acer Predator Helios Neo 14 AI (RTX 5070): for 1440p and ray tracing
If you want Enhanced’s ray tracing on at a sharper resolution, more raw power helps, because frame generation works best when the base frame rate is already decent. The Helios Neo 14 AI pairs a full-power 115 W RTX 5070 with a 14.5-inch 2.5K 165Hz G-SYNC screen, an Intel Core Ultra 9 285H, 32GB of memory and a 1TB SSD, so it holds GTA 5 and several other big games. - Laptops with a hard drive or 256GB of storage: Enhanced requires an SSD and takes 105GB.
- Very low-power RTX laptops: MSI’s Cyborg 15 and 17 B2RW run the RTX 5060 at just 55 W. Check the wattage in our laptop GPU power database before you buy.
- 8GB laptops: 8GB is Enhanced’s minimum; Rockstar recommends 16GB.
- Older RTX 30-series bargains just for GTA 5: they run it, but they miss DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation, which every RTX 50 laptop gets.
- MacBooks: GTA 5 has no Mac version on Steam.
