iTech Level is an independent product review site that helps mainstream tech buyers answer one question: is this worth it?
What we cover
We focus on the consumer technology people actually shop for every day — wireless earbuds and headphones, laptops, tablets, smartwatches, smart home devices, and home audio. We cover both flagship products from Apple, Sony, and Bose, and the budget-friendly alternatives from brands like Anker, JLab, and Soundcore that often deliver 80% of the experience at a fraction of the price.
What we don’t do: spec-sheet shootouts for audiophiles, fringe benchmarks that don’t translate to real-world use, or news coverage of products you can’t actually buy yet.
How we evaluate products
Every recommendation on iTech Level is structured around a single question: should the average buyer spend this much, or save their money for something else? We weigh four practical factors for every product we cover:
- Real-world performance — does the product do what most buyers will use it for, well? Not lab measurements, but practical use.
- Price-to-value ratio — how does it compare to alternatives at similar and different price points?
- Who it’s actually for — every product has a target user. We name that user clearly, and just as importantly, we say who should skip it.
- Honest trade-offs — no product is perfect. We name the flaws that matter and explain when they’re not deal-breakers.
Why “is it worth it” is the right question
Most tech review sites tell you what’s “best.” That’s often the wrong question. The Sony WH-1000XM5 is technically excellent — but if you can find the older XM4 for $150 less and lose almost nothing, is the upgrade worth it? The Apple AirPods Pro 3 are the best AirPods Apple has ever made — but if you mostly listen to podcasts on a budget, the standard AirPods 4 might serve you better at a lower price.
Our roundups and reviews are built to surface these comparisons explicitly, so you can make informed decisions about where your money actually goes.
How we make money (and what that means for our recommendations)
iTech Level is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. When you click an affiliate link on this site and make a purchase, we may earn a commission — at no additional cost to you.
This is how the site stays independent and free to read. It also means we have an incentive to write content that genuinely helps you make a buying decision, because if we recommend bad products, you stop trusting us, and you stop clicking.
We don’t accept paid placements, sponsored content, or products in exchange for positive reviews. Our recommendations are based on publicly available product information, manufacturer specifications, hands-on impressions where available, and the consensus from reputable third-party reviews. When we name a product as our top pick, it’s because we genuinely believe it’s the right choice for the buyer we describe — not because the commission is higher.
